Is it just me or does it feel surreal to be living in the year 2020? I remember growing up that anything past the year 2000 seemed so far into the future. Yet here we are two decades into the 21st century!
At the turn of the New Year I felt the need to take a fast from Instagram and Facebook. It was a great 21 days, it’s amazing how much more I was able to get done in a day. What I think I enjoyed most was how much more quickly I was able to quiet my heart and mind. I felt less distracted and better able to focus. This is by no means a judgment against the use of Social Media. I just know that I am someone who always has her antenna up at all times and God reminded me that I didn’t need to. This is something I’m still growing in.
We had a very special family come through Chiang Mai during their family trip at the beginning of this month. It was a gift to see them and spend some time with them. We are so encouraged by their faith and love for each other and for God. They are a treasure to us indeed and we are thankful and blessed by their support and friendship.

The Mow Family whom we love so much! So blessed by them.
The new year also gives Simpson and I time to reflect on God’s call for us serving in Thailand. We feel so affirmed that He wants us here, and our passion for the work we are doing has grown. There are times of weariness and discouragement but then we see and hear of children’s lives being restored which helps remind us of why we are here.
We encourage you to take a few minutes to read about some of what is taking place in the hearts and lives of our ZOE children. Click on the LINKs below to read these stories:
In the next couple of months we will be hosting different visiting teams to Chiang Mai, and doing prevention outreaches with them. Also, we will be back in Hawaii from mid-March to the second-to-last week of April to connect with friends and family, and to share about our work with ZOE International.
Thank you for your continued prayers and support.
Here’s how you can be praying for us:
- In recent months, we have been seeing older teens rescued. A couple of rescued children have newly begun their restoration journey at our Child Rescue Center. Please pray for the healing and complete restoration of these children.
- We are in a great need of more staff. In 2019 we had to sadly turn away 30 children because we couldn’t in good conscience take them in and responsibly care for them. Please pray for the finances for new staff, and that we find the right people who have a passion for this work.
- Our work continues to expand in Australia, Japan, L.A. and Mexico. All these locations face the need for qualified and passionate individuals to join our team.
